Our 2021 Leeds Opera Festival celebrates the operas of the English composer Gustav Holst (1874 - 1934).
Best known for The Planets orchestral suite, Holst also composed a varied collection of operas, choral works, and ballets.
The Festival includes
- a double-bill of At the Boar's Head and Savitri, performed at Morley Town Hall. Directed by Emma Black and conducted by Lewis Gaston
- a tour of The Wandering Scholar to community venues across Leeds and local areas. Directed by Jim Osman and conducted by David Ward
- performances of a new music theatre piece by Sarah Sayeed and Jaspreet Kaur, written in response to Savitri
- a free series of talks, discussions, workshops and events, including a live recording of our Operacast podcast, and a music making session for young children and families with Made with Music
